19. Pure Imagination -...
|
Pure Imagination is a series of darkly comic short stories by Matt Gajewski set to music by students at the University of Miami, as well as improvised radio plays performed by actors from Madison, Wisconsin, Matt’s hometown. They are aired weekly on Miami station WVUM and www.wvum.org, Mondays at 7 PM ET.
The episodes, generally thirty to forty minutes long, mix the mundane with the surreal, featuring stories about carnival workers, janitors, professional movers, and pool cleaners in almost fairy tale-like settings. In one story, a newly crowned ten year old boy faces his first day of the Royal Conception in a kingdom where all children must be fathered by the King. In another, a clone of Abraham Lincoln struggles to maintain his dignity while serving fast food on roller skates to patrons of the drive-in restaurant Presidents on Wheels.
The overall effect is somewhere between This American Life and Prairie Home Companion, if they were thrown into a blender with sliced peaches, frozen raspberries, and vanilla yogurt and made into a delicious peach melba smoothie.
For best taste, add ice and garnish with fruit.
